What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga therapy is a holistic mind-body approach that focuses on physical, emotional and mental health for individuals experiencing stress and health challenges. Utilizing the tools of yoga such as postures, breath, mindfulness, meditation and relaxation, individualized tailored programs are co-created to transform and maximize one's health and well-being.
How is it different than yoga?
Yoga in the western culture is primarily thought of as postures or exercise for stretching and/or stress relief. Yoga therapy like other types of therapy is a process. It is customized to your needs and focuses specifically on your sense of well-being and health challenges. Yoga therapy is collaborative, including education and discovery, guiding you to tap into your own wisdom for healing and transformation rather than being a passive participant as in a group class. Postures and movement are just one part of the tool box. There are many tools of yoga including pranayama (breath practice), mindfulness, meditation, intention setting, and mantra (affirmations) to name a few. Yoga therapy practices are often quite short so they can fit into your day, while most yoga classes are at least an hour long.
Integrating Yoga Therapy and Physical Therapy
The ancient practice of yoga has many health benefits that continue to be validated by research. The integration of the wisdom and science of yoga therapy and physical therapy optimizes a client's potential for transformation, growth, and lasting outcomes and promotes healing on a holistic level. Additionally, as a licensed physical therapist, my training and experience informs my yoga therapy practice and allows me to use hands-on techniques and expert movement and postural analysis to optimize physical function and each person’s ability to safely practice yoga.

How it works
Yoga therapy facilitates healing and transformation for sustainable and lasting benefits. Transformation takes time and partnership. To optimize the benefits of therapy, I encourage all first-time clients to schedule a 4-session initial package. This allows time for me to deeply listen to your goals, strengths, and challenges. After the first session, you will receive a personalized program. During the following three appointments, there is time to make adaptations and meaningful progression based on your experience of the practice. After the initial four sessions, individual follow-up sessions are scheduled as needed. Recognizing that this model does not work for everyone, individual pricing per session is available if preferred.
I currently see clients on Mondays at Dayaalu Center on Bainbridge Island or via Zoom.
Please contact me for scheduling.
Value package
$495 4-session initial package (One 90-minute intake and three 60-minute follow up appointments)
Individual session pricing
$150 Initial 90 minute session
$135 60-minute follow up sessions
If the rate of therapy sessions with me is outside of your budget at this time, please contact me for information about different payment options available on a case-by-case basis.
Do I accept insurance?
